Three young people, identified as members of the Jewish community, took a tarp from a searching mother during the celebrations for Mexico's victory on the same day of the opening of the World Cup. The tarp contained the faces of the missing children. They used it as an umbrella and mocked the mother, who is searching for her missing children, who are still missing.
Naomi Herman, a high school student from Chicago, is helping cancer patients in their treatment journey. Her initiative is called Carrying Hope. She has raised more than $7,000 and created more than 200 bags for patients at several hospitals. She recently partnered with Northwestern Medicine for their annual Cancer Survivor’s Celebration walk and provided more than 3,500 thoughtful bags to survivors.

Ho Jae Kim is the founder of Civil Art, an organization that supports Asian American artists and cultural professionals. Since its founding in 2022, the organization has raised $755,832 without a development fund, solely through community support. It has created more than 140 opportunities for API creatives and welcomed more than 2,000 visitors to its exhibitions and events. The Community Platform has produced more than 30 online articles, 14 educational events, six exhibitions, four major community activation events and two print publications. From June 18 to 30, Civil Art is hosting “Luminous Path” at Christie’s.
Maya Cade launched Black Film Archive five years ago in August of 2021. Cade will become the owner and president of Milestone Films, the distributor Amy Heller and Dennis Doros founded. She is also a scholar in residence at the Library of Congress and programmer-in-residence at Indiana University. Maya Cade is an archivist for Black directors.

Aimee Bock, founder of Feeding Our Future, was sentenced to 41 years in prison for her role in what prosecutors called the nation’s largest pandemic fraud scheme. She diverted more than $250 million intended to feed children in Minnesota into a network of false claims, shell entities and personal enrichment. 15 people were also accused of participating in a separate set of Medicaid and public-benefits fraud schemes worth an estimated $90 million.
